Closing Bell: SP500 +0,74 %

Another -25p rate cut from FED

The rally continued on Wall Street today as the Fed cut the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 4.50-4.75%. The SP500 rose by +0.74%, reaching 5,973.10, although the banking sector bucked the trend and dropped by -3.09%. Today's top performers were the automotive sector, up +2.51%, and semiconductors, up +2.17%. Tesla extended yesterday's strong gains, increasing a further but more cautious +2.90% to 596.91.
